Morning everyone. Sitting here with my third cup of coffee this morning, staring at my multi-monitor setup while the tickers flash red and green, and I am honestly shaking my head at what I am seeing on the main feeds today. Everyone on crypto Twitter and these subreddits is losing their minds over that new September survey showing that a majority of Americans supposedly want political candidates who back US-based fintech and digital asset tech. People are calling it a massive turning point, tweeting screenshots like it guarantees some kind of instant bull run. But honestly? As someone who has been through three full market cycles and gotten absoluteley rekt more times than I care to admit back in 2018 and 2021, this looks like pure noise designed to induce FOMO in retail.

Let's look past the glossy headlines for a second. While everyone is drooling over some polling data about fintech apps and voting trends, Brent crude is absolutely ripping to multi-month highs, breaking past that 110 zone and accelerating hard because of the total mess in the Middle East with Iran and Yemen. I was looking at my commodities tab earlier this morning and thought, man, retail is focusing on digital asset policies while macro energy shocks are quietly lining up to crush consumer discretionary spending. When oil spikes like this, inflation doesn't just go away, and central banks are forced to keep rates restrictive longer, no matter what any politician promises in a pre-election survey.

I remember back in late 2021, I fell for the exact same trap. I ignored the brewing macro headwinds, convinced myself that regulatory tailwinds and adoption metrics meant stonks and crypto only go up, and kept aggressively buying the dip instead of managing my risk. Lost a solid chunk of my portfolio because I was trading the narrative instead of the reality. Now I just stick to boring old DCA and strict stoplosses, and I am telling you, these polls about domestic financial tech mean zero if energy prices push supply chains over the edge and the Fed has to keep tightening. The pound is already dipping on a firm dollar as the budget looms, and everybody is distracted by shiny ballot box promises.

If you are scalping this trend or leveraging up based on election hype, good luck to you, but my bags are light and my cash position is staying put. Are people really ignoring the crude charts right now, or am I just getting too cynical in my old age?
