Alright traders, let's talk about what's actually happening on the charts this week because I've been staring at my multi-monitor setup since 5 AM this morning with a cold brew trying to make sense of everything. If you're trading cable right now, you know we're sitting right up near those monthly peaks around 1.3369 as we kick off the final week of October. Honestly, looking at the daily timefrrame, it feels like everyone and their mom is getting caught up in the FOMO, chasing this move higher ahead of the upcoming UK Budget and that crucial Bank of England meeting on November 5th. But if you dig into the technicals, things are starting to look genuinely spicy and a little bit dangerous for the bulls.
I actually learned my lesson the hard way on a setup like this back in late 2023 when the Polish zloty dropped to its weakest level in months and caught half the macro community completely rekt because they ignored the structural resistance levels. You gotta look past the initial headline noise and map out the actual liquidity zones. Right now on the GBP/USD hourly chart, we're pressing hard against a major psychological resistance cluster. The preliminary PMIs showed UK private sector activity accelerating to its fastest pace, which is what initially sparked this whole rally, but momentum indicators like the RSI are screaming divergence on the 4-hour chart. We are making higher highs on price while the momentum is literally flatlining. That is textbook exhaustion behavior.
So how are we actually playing this technically? I'm watching the 1.3380 level like a hawk. If we get a clean break and a retest of that zone with strong volume, we could easily see a quick scalping run toward 1.3450 before any real institutional selling steps in. However—and this is a massive however—if this ends up being a bull trap, look out below. The support shelf sitting down around 1.3280 is completely paper thin. If that gives way, algorithmic selling is going to trigger massive stop-losses, and we'll see a fast flush right back down into the mid-1.32s. I've got my alerts set right on the trendline break. Don't let the macro chatter blind you to what the price action is telling you right here and now.
Anyway, anyone else seeing this weird cross-asset correlation with crypto wallets integrating prediction markets like the new Phantom and Kalshi stuff while FX is moving like this, or is my brain just fried from staring at candles too long?
