Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to trading (only started about four months ago) and I’m trying to learn how to make sense of catalyst news like this.
I’ve been watching Novo Nordisk ($NVO) for a while now because of all the hype around Ozempic and Wegovy. But I just saw a headline saying they are pulling the plug on two more heart drug trials.
Since I'm still learning how the market reacts to these things, I had a few simple questions for the experienced traders here:
1. How big of a deal is it when a massive pharma company cancels clinical trials? Is this just business as usual for R&D, or is it a major red flag?
2. Since their weight-loss drugs are making so much money right now, does a pipeline setback like this actually hurt the stock long-term?
3. How do you guys usually trade news like this—is a drop in price a good "buy the dip" opportunity, or is it better to stay away until the dust settles?
Sorry if these are basic questions! I’m just trying to figure out if I should keep NVO on my watchlist or move on. How do you guys evaluate clinical trial failures, and what are you doing with NVO right now?
