Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to investing (only started putting money into tech ETFs and individual stocks late last year), and to be honest, today has been pretty terrifying.
I checked my portfolio and saw the Nasdaq is deep in the red, and Nvidia is down like 16%?! I keep seeing everyone talking about this new Chinese model called DeepSeek, but I don't really understand the connection. Why does a new AI model being released make AI infrastructure and chip companies drop by double digits overnight? Does this mean companies aren't going to buy Nvidia's hardware anymore?
I’m currently down a lot on my NVDA position and I'm not sure what the smart move is here. For the experienced traders who have been through these kinds of violent pullbacks before: is this an overreaction where people buy the dip, or is the whole AI boom actually in trouble? Should a beginner like me just hold, cut losses, or log out of my brokerage app for a week?
Any advice or simple explanations would be massively appreciated!
