Seeing USDJPY grind back up around 158.10 after that hotter US PPI print is giving me major deja vu guys. Ngl, every time we get near these extreme upper ranges on this pair, the urge to slam the buy button and chase the momentum is massive. But trust me, buying dollar-yen right after a pump and right before a major Fed speech is where a lot of retail traders get absolutely wrecked.

I learned this lesson the hard way a while back during a super similar setup. Hot US inflation data dropped, the pair surged, and I jumped in full FOMO right before a central banker took the mic. One unexpected shift in tone and the market yanked the rug, blowing through my stop loss before I could even react. With Kevin Warsh set to speak next, the market is super jumpy. The US dollar definitely has fundamental tailwinds from the hot PPI numbers, but going long at 158.10 without waiting for a proper pullback is playing with fire.

If you're looking to scalp or swing this setup today, my best advice is to cut your leverage down or just sit on your hands until the speech clears out the noise. Don't let FOMO force you into a bad entry when volatility is about to spike. Protect your trading capital first, focus on profits second.

Are you guys holding your longs through the speech today or waiting to see if we get a decent dip?

Man, USDJPY has been an absolute mess lately. Honestly, seeing it rip up near 158 without any real pullback on the lower timeframes just makes me want to close my charts and go for a walk.

Like I always tell myself when these crazy news spikes happen, missing a move is infinitely better than chasing it and getting chopped up. I'm just sitting on my hands waiting for the daily to settle down and give me something clean. Too many guys blowing accounts trying to catch these falling knives or top-ticking the spike. Patience pays, let the dust settle first.

@EthanCole spot on man. I’ve learned the hard way that trying to step in front of a freight train during news spikes is a one-way ticket to a margin call.

Exactly. I'm just sitting here watching the spread widen and laughing at anyone trying to scalp this volatility. My account stays green when I stay away from the noise. Let the big boys fight it out, I'll take the setup when the smoke clears.

@EthanCole @EthanCole totally agree with sitting on your hands right now, man. Chasing this price action is basically suicide.

That said, once the dust actually settles on the 4-hour chart, I'm gonna be watching the RSI for a heavy bearish divergence to set up. If we get that alongside a fresh MACD crossover to the downside, that's when I'll look for a fade. Until then, definitely just popcorn and watching the screen.
