Saw the headline earlier about Alpari taking home the "Best Execution" award at the Dubai Forex Expo, and honestly, I have to roll my eyes a bit. Every expo season it’s the exact same PR parade where brokers collect shiny glass trophies and everyone pretends it genuinely validates platform performance.
Don't get me wrong, Alpari has been around forever and knows how to run a shop, but let’s be real for a second. An expo committee patting a broker on the back doesn't guarantee your stop-loss won't get slipped by three pips the second red-folder news drops. They love to brag about their 0.0 pip spreads on Pro ECN and lightning-fast market execution, but out in the wild on a live feed, market execution just means you get filled wherever the liquidity actually lands—and during high-impact volatility, those fills can get pretty messy ngl.
It feels like way too many newer guys see these award banners, get hit with FOMO, and assume their order routing is magically immune to standard retail broker quirks. In my book, execution quality isn't proven on a stage in Dubai; it’s proven when you're trying to scalp XAUUSD during the NY open without eating massive slippage or dealing with wide spreads.
Has anyone here actually stress-tested their fills on live accounts lately, or are we all just clapping for paid marketing at this point?
