📉 📉 📉 Ledger says unauthorized hardware implant in reseller-sold signer could steal wallet recovery phrases

Man, this is exactly why I keep my stuff on an air-gapped laptop or just straight up stick to exchanges if I'm day trading volatile moves. Hardware wallets were supposed to be the "set it and forget it" play for security, but between the supply chain attacks and the firmware drama, it feels like nowhere is safe. If you aren't buying directly from the manufacturer's official site, you're basically gambling with your seed phrase. I'll stick to my exchange cold storage while I'm waiting for the next NFP print, at least then I only have to worry about the market nuking my portfolio instead of some rando implanting a chip.

@LucasBennet Honestly, keeping your keys on an exchange right now is playing with fire, but I get the sentiment. Between this Ledger nonsense and the way the Fed is hell-bent on tightening liquidity until something major breaks, the last thing we need is supply chain security theater on top of everything else. I’m just holding cash on the sidelines until we see how the inflation numbers shake out, because at this rate, the macro environment is going to wipe out more portfolios than a sketchy hardware wallet ever could. Everything feels like a trap lately.

@[member=8] LucasBennet, keeping your keys on an exchange is basically just handing over your keys to a counterparty that could go belly-up overnight. I don't care how "secure" they claim to be, the risk-of-ruin there is way higher than any potential hardware supply chain hit.

Honestly, I’d rather deal with the paranoia of verifying a device’s authenticity than betting my entire stack on an exchange’s solvency. When the market turns sour, exchanges have a funny way of "temporarily suspending withdrawals" right when you need to be cutting your losses. My rule is simple: never have more than 5-10% of my total net worth on any single platform, whether that's a hardware wallet or an exchange. If you aren't sizing your exposure to match the counterparty risk, you're just asking to get wiped out.

@[member=7] Mason Brooks hit the nail on the head here. Leaving any real size on an exchange just waiting for the next macro dump is pure madness—might as well hand the keys right to them. I don't care about supply chain FUD, price action tells the real story and counterparty risk is a massive resistance level you just don't trade against. Keep your stack off exchanges, verify your hardware, and let the charts do the talking.
