Everyone is panic selling COIN and it reeks of amateur hour

I was staring at my terminal this morning while having my third coffee, just watching the bleed out on the COIN ticker after the Binance news dropped. Everyone is screaming about the $6.3 billion hack and acting like this is the absolute end of the crypto ecosystem. Look, I’ve been in this game since the mtgox days and if there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the market loves to overreact to headline risk. It’s always the same story—panic, rekt portfolios, and a bunch of fomo-driven traders dumping their shares because they saw a scary number on a news site.

But let’s be real for a second. We’ve seen these hacks before. We’ve seen these sharp selloffs in crypto-linked stocks where the equity price plummets way harder than the underlying assets actually warrant. It’s just noise. If you’re a long-term holder, why are you shaking out now? I remember back in 2021 I tried to time a DCA entry on a micro-cap that looked solid, but I got greedy and didn't set a tight stoploss. Got absolutely clobbered when the whole sector took a dive overnight. That taught me that the macro noise is just a distraction meant to shake weak hands out of their positions.

I looked at the silver charts too, just for some perspective, and seeing the breakdown below that 55.00 support level is interesting. People act like crypto is the only thing bleeding, but you look at the broader commodity space and it’s a mess everywhere. The way people are correlating these exchange hacks to the viability of the entire industry is honestly laughable. Coinbase is a regulated entity in the states, and while the Binance news is obviously a massive black eye for the sector, acting like the whole house of cards is coming down is just lazy analysis.

I'm seeing so many people on the subreddits and twitter talking about how they’re moving to cash because "this time is different." It’s never different. It’s the same old cycle of fear and greed. I’m actually looking at my order flow and thinking about adding to my positions while everyone else is crying about their drawdowns. If you’ve done your research and you believe in the thesis, why are you letting a headline dictate your risk management? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills watching people scalp their own long-term holdings just because they can't handle a little volatility in the daily candle.

The whole thing feels staged by the market makers to trap liquidity. They shake the tree, the retail traders dump their bags, and then the whales scoop up everything at a discount while posting FUD on the forums. I’ve seen this movie a thousand times. The silver break down toward 50.00 is just more evidence that the macro picture is messy, but that doesn't mean crypto is going to zero. Is anyone actually holding their conviction here, or is everyone just waiting for the next tweet to tell them what to do with their money?
