Rare Fisher Transform Bullish Cross: Why I’m staying disciplined (lessons from 2020)

Hey everyone, I just caught the news that the Fisher Transform for Bitcoin printed a bullish cross on the higher timeframes. For those who don’t track this specific metric, it’s a pretty big deal—it’s only happened three times before in BTC's entire history.

I remember back in 2020 when we saw a similar setup. At the time, the hype was deafening, and it’s easy to get swept up in the "to the moon" sentiment when these "rare" signals flash. But if my years in these markets have taught me anything, it’s that indicators are map markers, not crystal balls. The Fisher Transform is excellent for identifying turning points and price extremes, but even the strongest signal can be invalidated by a sudden macro shift.

In my earlier trading days, I probably would have seen this headline and gone 20x long immediately. Now? I’m using this as a signal to tighten my strategy, not to gamble. My personal rule for these "fourth-ever" events is to wait for confirmation on the weekly close. The graveyard of traders is filled with people who traded 100x leverage on a single indicator.

My advice for the newer folks: treat this as a green flag, but don't throw your risk management out the window. If you’re entering now, make sure your stop-losses are anchored to historical support levels, not just "vibes." The market loves to hunt liquidity and shake out the FOMO buyers right after a bullish cross prints. I’m currently looking at my spot bags and slowly scaling, but I'm keeping plenty of dry powder in case of a final "shakeout" dip.

Are you guys treating this as the definitive start of the next leg up, or are you waiting for a specific price level to break before you’re convinced?

Man, flashbacks to March 2020 are enough to give anyone PTSD. Totally agree on waiting for the weekly close though, fakeouts right after these rare signals print are basically tradition at this point. Still keeping some dry powder ready just in case we get that final flush.

Honestly, indicators like the Fisher are fine for a macro bias, but I wouldn't touch a trade based solely on that. If you aren't looking at the actual order flow and waiting for a clean BOS or a tap into a daily OB, you're just gambling. I’ve seen way too many "rare" setups get absolutely nuked by smart money hunting liquidity below those obvious support levels before they actually move. Don't fall for the hype—wait for the sweep and the shift in structure. Stay disciplined.

Man, those 2020 flashbacks are real. I’ve been staring at the Fisher myself, but honestly, it’s not giving me the full picture without seeing what the RSI is doing. Seeing a bullish cross is great and all, but if we don't have some decent hidden bullish divergence building underneath to support the move, I’m not getting excited yet.

I'm with the others—wait for the weekly close. I'm also waiting for a clean MACD crossover on the daily before I even think about sizing up. It’s too easy to get trapped by a wick down to hunt liquidity while everyone is busy celebrating the indicator flash. Stay patient, fellas.

I honestly don't know why people are still looking for bullish signals when the macro backdrop is this absolute dumpster fire. We've got sticky inflation that just won't quit and the Fed is clearly signaling they’ll keep rates higher for longer to kill the remaining demand, so trying to front-run a bottom based on a technical crossover feels like catching a falling knife.

Be careful.

Everyone is so desperate for a rally that they're ignoring the reality of the balance sheet runoff. I’m staying in cash and staying skeptical until the liquidity crunch actually hits home, because these "rare" indicators don't mean a thing when the macro tide is going out this fast. Don't get trapped by the hopium.

Indicators are nice and all for ideas, but if your position sizing is garbage and you aren't hard-coding a stop loss, the Fisher Transform is just an expensive way to blow up your account. Macro and order flow don't mean a damn thing if you risk 10% of your stack on a single trade. Keep your size small and protect your capital, because the market doesn't care about your feelings or your indicators.

Man, all these fancy indicators are just giving me a headache reading through this thread. Everyone is hunting for some "magic" signal to tell them when the bottom is in, but half of you are completely ignoring the actual price levels that have held up for months. Who cares what the Fisher Transform or MACD says if you aren't looking at the structural support levels underneath? If the price isn't respecting a key level, that crossover is just noise. Keep it simple, guys. Look at the wicks, look at where the buyers stepped in last time, and stop trying to overcomplicate a simple chart with lagging lines. Just watch the levels.
