Why is coffee pumping so hard right now because of tariffs?

Hey everyone, ngl I am super lost today. I was just checking the charts and saw Arabica coffee hitting literal ATHs. The news says it’s because of this whole tariff drama and then Trump backing off threats against Colombia, but my smooth brain doesn't get how that makes prices go crazy high. Shouldn't removing tariffs be a good thing that makes stuff cheaper? Or am I missing something huge here? I've mostly just tried to scalp crypto before so soft commodities are like alien tech to me. Are you guys holding any positions on this, or is the FOMO way too late to jump in now? Any advice for a absolute beginner trying to trade coffee would be mega appreciated!

Man, coming from crypto to softs is definitely a wild culture shock, but welcome to the insanity. Don't let the headlines fool you—the market mostly panicked because the threat of tariffs completely scrambled supply chains and logistics, and even when threats get walked back, the supply anxiety and hedging costs are already baked into the price action. Chasing ATHs on ag commodities without a rock-solid risk model is basically just donating your capital to the locals, especially with volatility this insane. If you're dead set on trading it, wait for a mean reversion setup or at least check the historical drawdown on coffee before you size up.

Honestly, stay away. If you're coming from crypto, you're used to 24/7 liquidity and degenerate leverage, but commodities will chew you up and spit you out before you even realize your stop loss didn't trigger because of a gap.

Everyone is looking at the headlines, but nobody is looking at their account balance if this thing has a 10% retracement tomorrow. Commodities aren't a game for people chasing breakouts.

If you don't have a clear exit strategy that you've already stress-tested, you're just gambling. Don't touch it.

Bro do not touch coffee right now unless you like lighting money on fire. The guys above are 100% right, ags move on actual physical supply bottlenecks, not just Twitter vibes. Wait for NFP or CPI to drop and stick to what you know.

Man everyone in here sounds way too scared of a little volatility. All this talk about staying away and getting chewed up is exactly why the top is nowhere near in yet. When the crowd is universally screaming that a breakout is unplayable, that's usually the exact moment you want to be aggressively scaling in.
