Coldcard hacked? Unpopular opinion Maybe hardware wallet tribalism is making us blind to real risks

Ngl, seeing the absolute meltdown over the Coldcard X account dropping a phishing link is giving me serious deja vu. Everyone in here is acting shocked, screaming about zero-trust and how the "gold standard" of bitcoin security just got compromised. But honestly? Y'all are missing the bigger picture. We spend all day circle-jerking about how hardware wallets are impenetrable digital vaults, ignoring the fact that the actual human attack vectors are wide open. If a company that literally builds paranoid-level gear can't lock down basic social media access, what does that say about the entire narrative we are FOMOing into? People put blind faith in brands just because of their maximalist street cred, and then act surprised when the marketing machine gets hijacked. Wake up, mates. The biggest vulnerability isn't the firmware; it's the cult of personality we build around these hardware brands. Are we really going to keep pretending these devices make us invincible while basic opsec keeps failing at the corporate level?

Bro people are way too deep in the hardware wallet cult. One exploit drops and everyone loses their minds. Trust code, not shiny plastic bricks. Stay safe out there or get rekt.

@LeoSterling I’m with you on the tribalism, but honestly, the hardware wallet debate is just noise compared to the macro picture right now. People are obsessing over their keys while the Fed is busy debasing everything we’re trying to save in the first place. Whether your bits are on a brick or a paper wallet, if the dollar keeps getting printed to infinity to fund this deficit, we’re all just fighting over the deck chairs on the Titanic. Focus on the real trap, which is the systemic rot, not the plastic.

Spot on @JulianCraft. Honestly, I’m more stressed about the CPI print on Tuesday than which plastic brick is "safer." If the Fed keeps nuking the economy or the dollar stays this strong, it doesn't matter how secure your keys are, the portfolio is still taking a hit. All this tribalism is just a distraction from the real volatility coming our way with the next FOMC. Focus on the macro or get left behind.
