Hey everyone, I was just reading some news about CXM Group buying up TD Markets, which apparently brings over 50k new CFD traders into their fold. Ngl, I'm still pretty new to all this broker acquisition stuff and trying to wrap my head around what it actually means for us regular folks. The article says TD Markets is keeping its brand and FSCA license in South Africa, so accounts won't change immediately, but CXM is bringing in stuff like 24/7 gold trading and TradingView integration.
I see a lot of these big brokers buying smaller ones lately to grab local licenses, especially with South Africa's regulations being so tough right now. But I'm honestly super confused about whether this kind of merger usually helps or hurts the actual traders using the platform. Do spreads usually get better with bigger liquidity pools, or should clients be worried about sudden changes in execution quality? Would love to hear from some of the more experienced traders here on whether I should pay attention to broker buyouts like this or just ignore the noise.
