Everyone calling the death of the Loonie is missing the bigger picture

Ngl, reading the sentiment around USD/CAD right now feels like textbook herd mentality. Everyone and their mother is screaming that the greenback is going to steamroll every currency into oblivion while the Canadian dollar just rolls over and dies at these lows. But honestly, mate, chasing the USD rally up here is starting to feel like massive top-ticking FOMO.

The Loonie is actually showing a lot of resilience by holding near these support levels despite the ridiculous strength in the DXY. The market is completely priced for perfection on the US side, but what happens the second US yields cool off or energy catches a decent bid? The downside on USD/CAD is going to be violent, and all these late USD longs are going to get trapped in a brutal squeeze. Betting against CAD down here just feels way too crowded and asymmetric to the downside.

Are you guys really comfortable buying USD at these levels, or is anyone else quietly loading up on CAD for the reversal?

Man, I really want to believe you, but have you seen the fiscal dumpster fire in Ottawa lately? I'm not touching the Loonie with a ten-foot pole while the debt-to-GDP ratio keeps ticking up and our productivity is essentially flatlining.

The Fed isn't pivoting anytime soon, no matter how much people want to manifest it. Inflation is stickier than a cheap glue trap.

I think the "violent downside" you're expecting for the USD is just wishful thinking from people who are tired of getting crushed. The DXY is the only thing keeping the lights on in this market, and until the US actually breaks something in the labor market, buying the CAD is just catching a falling knife. Good luck, though. Hope you prove me wrong.

Lol good luck trying to catch that falling knife, the Canadian economy is literally running on fumes and housing bubbles right now. Everybody loves to fade the consensus until they get completely wiped out by the trend.

Bro, look at the daily RSI on USD/CAD right now—we've got a massive bearish divergence printing while the price keeps making marginal new highs. Plus, the MACD just flashed a cross on the 4-hour chart. Everyone calling for parity is about to get fleeced when this rug gets pulled.

Man, everyone in here is staring at indicators and macro charts like they actually mean something when the market decides to flush.

Personally, I don't care if the chart prints a triple-rainbow bullish divergence or whatever. If your stop loss isn't locked in tight, you're just begging to get taken out behind the woodshed. Risk management first, opinions second. Trade what's in front of you, not what you hope happens.

I'm just sitting on my hands for now. Everyone is so eager to catch the exact top or bottom that they end up overtrading the noise on the lower timeframes. I’ll check back when the daily chart actually gives us a clear signal, but until then, I'm staying out. No point in forcing a trade when the direction is this muddy.
