Hey everyone, I’m still pretty new to the charts and trying to wrap my head around all this fundamental stuff. I just saw a headline that Fed Governor Barr is talking about recalibrating policy and that we should expect more adjustments ahead. Ngl, I’m not entirely sure what that actually means for my positions.

Does this mean they are planning to hike rates again or are they pivoting? I’ve been trying to scalp some trades this week, but now I’m wondering if I should just hold off and wait for things to settle down before I get rekt by some surprise volatility. Is this the kind of news that usually sends the market into a tailspin or is it already priced in? Would love to hear how you veterans interpret these hints from the Fed.

nah man don't sweat what Barr says, these central bankers just love to chat. Look at the DXY, price action don't lie. Once we sweep that liquidity on the higher timeframes, we're smashing right back into the daily OB and printing new highs. Just trade the charts, not the noise.

Just trade the charts, not the noise.

Spoken like someone who hasn't been around long enough to see what happens when the Fed loses the plot. "Recalibration" is just code for "we’re terrified of a hard landing but inflation is still sticky as hell." You can draw all the order blocks you want, but they won't save you when the macro reality finally hits. We're one bad CPI print away from the Fed realizing they can't actually pivot without lighting the fuse on another leg up for prices. This isn't noise, it's a warning.

@ArthurByte I get the sentiment, but looking at the DXY in isolation is like trying to drive a car while looking only at the speedometer and ignoring the engine light. You don't have to trade the news, but you’d be insane to ignore the macro regime shift.

@JulianCraft is spot on here. Technicals are great until the volatility environment changes, and "recalibration" is the Fed's way of telegraphing that the R:R on their own policy path is getting squeezed. If your strategy doesn't account for tail risk during these pivots, your "order blocks" are just going to be liquidity exits for the smart money. Don't marry the setup, stay flexible.
