Why is the Pound going up just because US tech is dropping? Confused newbie here

Hey guys, still pretty new to macro and forex trading so go easy on me. I was looking at the charts today and saw headlines saying Sterling is edging higher mainly because US tech stocks are dragging down the dollar. Ngl I'm pretty confused about how tech companies dumping in America automatically pushes the Pound up over in the UK.

Is Cable just pumping by default because everyone is ditching the USD, or is there something actually positive going on with Sterling that I'm missing? I was honestly thinking about shorting the Pound earlier this week because of UK economic vibes, but now I'm sitting on my hands feeling some serious FOMO while it ticks green. Definitely don't want to get wrecked catching a fake move if US tech bounces right back tomorrow.

How do you veterans usually play these cross-market correlations? Are you holding long positions here or waiting to scalp a reversal?
