Ngl, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills reading all the hype about AvaTrade scooping up the FXCM brand and most of the business. People in here are acting like this is some massive bullish milestone for the retail CFD space, but if you actually look at how this went down, it’s giving me major exit-scam-lite vibes for Jefferies. Let's not forget FXCM has been a zombie brand ever since that horrific 2015 Swiss Franc black swan nearly vaporized them completely.
Besides, everybody is glossing over the fact that this wasn't even a clean buyout. They are carving up the legacy book piece by piece—didn't Trade Nation just quietly grab the UK client books days ago? When a distressed asset gets chopped up and sold off for parts like an old Honda Civic in a scrap yard, that is not industry consolidation from a position of strength. That’s a fire sale. I seriously doubt swallowing up a decade-old baggage-heavy brand is going to magically boost AvaTrade's margins while tighter regulatory nooses squeeze everyone globally. Are we really celebrating two dinosaurs merging just because they managed to survive the slaughter, or are we just suffering from major nostalgia FOMO?
