IC Markets rebranding to just IC feels like a massive red flag to me

Everyone on my feeds is praising IC Markets for dropping the "Markets" to become just "IC", flexing their new ic.com domain, and slapping the fresh logo all over Haas F1 cars like it's the biggest flex in retail broker history. The PR spin is running wild about how they've outgrown being just a CFD house and are now an elite global masterbrand. Ngl, looking past the corporate hype, this whole rollout just rubs me the wrong way.

When a broker starts pouring millions into ultra-rare two-letter domains and vanity motorsport deals, who do you think pays for that tab? That cash doesn't fall from the sky, mate. It comes straight from retail spreads, swaps, and volume. For over a decade, IC had a stellar reputation because they were a no-nonsense, raw spread machine built for guys who just wanted to scalp the London open without corporate fluff. Now the narrative is all about cross-selling wealth management products, deploying AI data tracking, and playing the institutional game.

What really raised my eyebrows is how they casually admit this masterbrand setup is designed to insulate the logo from entity-specific regulatory crackdowns. In plain English, that sounds less like an operational upgrade and more like setting up a corporate firewall so if an offshore or regional branch catches heat from regulators, the main brand stays squeaky clean while business keeps churning. Why is the community celebrating a broker putting extra legal distance between their flashy public name and the actual entities holding our deposits?

Call me cynical, but whenever a broker decides the word "trading" or "markets" is suddenly beneath them, it usually means the retail guys who put them on the map are about to become an afterthought.

Am I just being paranoid here, or is anyone else worried our spreads and support are about to take a backseat to pure corporate vanity?
