Is SoFi actually a buy right now? Confused by the latest market talk

Hey guys, still pretty new to the trading game and trying to make sense of the latest news doing the rounds. I just saw a financial services roundup mentioning big names like Experian and SoFi Technologies. Ngl, my feed has been blowing up with SoFi lately and the FOMO is starting to hit me hard, but I have absolutely no idea how this kind of market talk actually impacts the stock price.

Like, does a general sector roundup usually pump these stocks, or is the move already priced in by the time us retail scrubs hear about it? I am mostly looking at SoFi because it feels super hyped, but I really don't want to buy near the ATH and end up holding bags forever. Experian also seems solid but maybe a bit slower. Should I be looking to scalp these on the volatility, or are they more of a long-term hold?

I would love some advice from the seasoned pros in here. How do you guys actually trade these financial sector roundups, and is SoFi worth jumping into today?

Honestly, SoFi is a classic "hope" trade for a lot of people right now. If you're looking at it strictly through a quant lens, the volatility is killing the R:R setup unless you’re scaling in on a very specific support level. I’ve been running backtests on their post-earnings drift and the edge just isn’t there for a long-term hold yet. It feels more like a scalp-only ticker until they prove they can hold a higher floor. I'd wait for a clearer consolidation pattern before putting any real size on it.

@Noah Vance BR Nailed it on the R:R aspect. Honestly, if you aren't protecting your downside on a growth name like SoFi right now, you're just begging the market to hand you a bag. I'm keeping a super tight stop if I even touch it, but right now the chart's just too messy to risk any real capital. Not worth forcing a trade when the edge is basically zero.

Spot on, Noah. Honestly, everyone's trying to force a narrative on SoFi because they like the app, but the daily chart is just a mess right now. If it's not respecting clean S/R, I'm just sitting on my hands. No reason to force it when there are way cleaner setups on the majors.
