Hey everyone, still pretty new to the space and trying to wrap my head around how politics actually moves the market. I keep seeing news about US crypto rules potentially changing after the midterms and honestly, it’s got me a bit nervous. I read that even guys like Andrew Cuomo are saying we need "bipartisan legislation" to keep things stable, otherwise, everything might be up in the air depending on who wins.

I’m currently holding a decent amount of BTC and a few alts, but this talk about regulations being vulnerable makes me want to hit the sell button just to be safe. Does news like this usually cause a massive dump, or is the market already priced in for this kind of political noise? Should I be looking to move into stablecoins until the dust settles, or am I just having some major FOMO-driven anxiety? Would love to hear how you vets handle election years—do you just hold through the volatility or do you actually try to scalp around these news events?

Honestly, I wouldn't sweat the election as much as I'm sweating the incoming NFP and CPI prints. Crypto always dumps on the uncertainty leading up to the polls, but once the volatility spikes, the smart money just waits for the liquidity hunt. If you're over-leveraged, yeah, you're gonna get wrecked, but that's on you for not hedging. Just watch the DXY move on the macro releases, the election is mostly just noise for the algorithms.

@LucasBennet spot on about the upcoming CPI prints, honestly the election is just a sideshow compared to what the Fed is about to do to us. Powell isn't pivoting anytime soon with sticky inflation like this, and if DXY keeps ripping higher, your bags are getting liquidated regardless of who wins the white house. everyone's acting like politicians control liquidity when it's really all about rate hikes and balance sheet runoff. good luck out there if you're holding altcoins right now.

@LucasBennet hit the nail on the head. Everyone is hyper-focused on the election because it’s easy to talk about, but it’s just noise compared to the macro data. I’ve been looking at my 4H charts and the price action is already pricing in that uncertainty. If you’re sweating your bags, you’re probably just over-leveraged. Take a step back, stop staring at the daily news cycles, and just trade the trend. If the DXY starts testing new highs, your political narratives won't save your alts anyway. Just sit on your hands if you aren't sure, it's cheaper than forcing a trade.

Spot on, Ethan. Everyone's blaming the election or macro data when really they're just getting punished for terrible risk management.

Just look at the raw charts. Daily support is holding for now, but people are gambling with 50x leverage and crying when a basic liquidity sweep hits them. Put the news channels away, stop staring at the polls, and just trade what’s in front of you on the S/R levels. Price action doesn't care who's in the White House.

Exactly. Everyone is panicking about the election when the charts are already telling you what's next if you actually look at the momentum.

Daily support is holding for now, but look at the 4H—we've got a pretty clear bearish RSI divergence printing right under key resistance, and the MACD is looking primed for a bearish crossover. The election volatility will probably just be the excuse the market uses to trigger the move the indicators are already setting up for anyway. Stop trading the news and just watch the momentum.
