Hey everyone, ngl I am stressing a bit this week. I keep seeing posts about Micron reporting earnings after the close on Wednesday and everyone is treating it like the absolute holy grail for the AI rally. My FOMO is acting up big time, but I honestly have no clue what "five key requirements" means for the stock price or if I should just hold my cash and watch from the sidelines. Are earnings plays just a pure casino gamble for beginners, or is there an actual strategy the veterans here use? How does this usually impact the broader market if it misses? Would love some advice before I do something stupid and get rekt.

Best advice? Don't. Earnings are a coin flip and MU moves like a freight train on crack. You'll get IV crushed into oblivion if you just buy calls and it barely moves. If you're really itching to get rekt, just buy a put credit spread, otherwise stay on the sidelines and watch the fireworks. Don't be exit liquidity.

@LeoSterling is spot on, honestly. I wouldn't touch MU with a ten-foot pole right now. Between the sticky inflation data and the Fed holding rates higher for longer, the risk-reward on these tech earnings plays is just completely broken. You’re basically gambling that the market hasn't already priced in a miracle, which is a sucker's bet in this macro environment. Keep your cash in a money market fund and wait for the inevitable pullback.
