Hey guys, been watching the greenback run for weeks and it finally looks like it’s catching its breath after hitting those insane 18-month levels. It is always tempting to keep riding that USD strength forever but honestly, this is where most retail traders get absolutely smoked. I remember back in my early days trying to long a similar peak and getting wiped out by a sudden correction because I didn't respect how overextended the move was. Seeing the loonie finally claw back some ground today is a classic lesson in mean reversion and why we shouldn't get blinded by fomo when a pair is at an ATH or a multi-year resistance.

Ngl, I almost hit the buy button this morning out of habit, but you have to check the ego at the door. When the USD starts retreating from such a significant high, the volatility can be brutal for anyone caught on the wrong side of the momentum. My personal approach lately has been to wait for the daily candle to close before even thinking about a scalp. Chasing the dip right now feels like catching a falling knife if you aren't careful with your levels. I always tell my mates that preservation of capital is the only way to stay in this game long-term, so keep those stop losses tight and don't over-leverage just because the CAD looks cheap.

These setups are great for learning how to spot trend exhaustion. Even if you think the dollar is going to moon eventually, these pullbacks are necessary for the market to breathe. I've learned the hard way that jumping in without a clear structure break is just gambling with extra steps. Are you guys actually looking to short this USD retreat or are you just waiting for a better entry to go long again?

I'm with you on staying patient here. I've been watching the daily chart and that bearish RSI divergence is screaming at me to stay on the sidelines for now. Everyone seems to be trying to catch a falling knife, but I’d rather wait for a clean MACD crossover before even thinking about stepping in. It’s too choppy to force a trade when the momentum is clearly fading like this.

Spot on, @Zakami Ng. That divergence is impossible to ignore if you're actually looking at the daily timeframe. Everyone’s so desperate to pick a bottom that they’re ignoring the fact that we’re still just chopping around in no-man's land. I’d much rather miss the first few pips of a move than get chewed up by this noise while waiting for a real trend to establish itself. Keep that patience, man, it’s the only thing that keeps the account alive.
